Michiru Kita is a girl who has Shinigami Eye, which allows them to see a ring around the neck of a person. This ring symbolizes the person of the imminence of death, once they are marked for death, a gray ring, which is invisible to the normal people, appears around their necks. Over time, the ring is darker, and once the ring turns black, the person dies. Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, two boys in her class, both black rings around their necks, but to his surprise, they are not yet dead. It is revealed that, after a tragic accident which would kill them both, the two boys entered into a secret agreement with a loan office called Zombie-Loan. In exchange for their continued existence, the two have to hunt zombies for the office of the loan. When Michiru involved with them, it feels that his life has become more complicated.

The story focuses on a man named Train Heartnet who withdraw from an elite group of assassins called Toki no Bannin (????; the Chronos Numbers) to become a broom (a hunter premium).

By Train in the world, there is a secret organization, Chronos, that the rules of third subway in the world, control almost any type of business. To maintain a balance in the world, Chronos is essential, and therefore it is necessary to have people to protect Chronos. In addition to all the normal gums, there are murderers elite with Orihalcon facts weapon called Chrono Numbers. Chrono Numbers have their numbers engraved on their bodies and their weapons. There were twelve total Chrono Numbers, but when Train Heartnet, a fantastic shooter, decided to join their cause Chronos, the number XIII is based. No one who has been targeted by Train Heartnet, also known as the Black Cat, to bring "bad luck", and soon his movements and attacks, never survived. The name of Black Cat was the most feared among the killers.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as “L“. L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as “Kira” (derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word “Killer“), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

The series begins as Maki meets, defends, and befriends a group of girls her own age. The next day, she is surprised to discover that most of those girls go to the same high school that she has just transferred to.

In most episodes, Maki somehow ends up fighting one of the local streetfighters. As time goes on, she and her friends find out more and more about the mysterious “Fukamichi Rankings”, where fighters earn reputation and money, so many of them are trying to strive for the top. Eventually, Maki joins the tournament for thrills, and fights ever-stronger opponents, while many of her previous opponents vainly try to match her progress, including some would-be suitors. Her battles would eventually lead to the Fukamichi Ranking’s No. 1, The Eternal.

Another focus of the series is Maki’s past; since Maki herself is reluctant to speak about it, details of her past as a famous gymnast and her relationship with her parents are revealed slowly through flashbacks and dreams.

In the anime, learning the sisters’ secret angers him and he steals a pair of Air Trecks, abbreviated as “AT”. (In the manga, the sisters give a pair of ATs to him and invite him to skate with them.) Ikki eventually settles his grudge with the Skull Saders, but in the process he receives more than the simple satisfaction of revenge. Determined to experience the sensation of “flight” for as long as he can, Ikki is quickly sucked into the mysterious, irresistible world of Air Trecks.
